'How To Fix Your Memory Loss!' is a satirical film about the internet’s ability to confuse us about our health and wellbeing. Online sources not written by professionals, an abundance of conflicting medical advice and catastrophising potentially minor medical ailments can put our health and wellbeing in jeopardy. It can also trivialise serious and irreversible conditions - such as memory loss. I have taken lists of ‘Quick Tips to Improve Your Memory Loss’ from various sources on the internet, none of which distinguished between forgetting the occasional thing, and life-altering conditions like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. I made this list of vague and unhelpful points into a visually humorous film to highlight their absurdity. Rather than installing fear, this film encourages us to question information given to us over the internet - not just medical, but for any topic - in a light-hearted way. Where has it comes from? Who has written it? Is the author qualified to solicit advice? Do they have ulterior motives, such as selling us a product? A new way of spreading awareness, through the medium of props, design, and film.

Over the course of 3 months, each of the props was either handmade or thrifted from a second-hand source. Handmade props include the screen-printed train ticket, the embroidered shopping list, the plaster-cast etching and the puzzle. Some props were recycled or repurposed such as the alcohol containers and post it notes, and the rest of the props were thrifted, including vintage bus tickets, buttons, stamps, playing cards and notebooks.
