A stylised guidebook for my final year university project in the Manchester School of Art 2022 Degree Show.  Designed to go alongside a TV display of three films; 'How To Fix Your Memory Loss', 'I'll Carry It With Me' and 'What Does Remembering Look Like?' - all part of the project named 'The Anatomy of Memory'.
This cloth-covered, spiral-bound book was hand-made to tie in with the theme of craft and memory making within the project. The layout of the contents was designed in Adobe Indesign.
I decided to make a guide to my films, with some background information for each film and the overall project concept, to be displayed alongside my films on a table to read through at the Degree Show. This way, it doesn't interrupt the flow of the films by adding unnecessary information, but still enables them to be easily understood by audience members if they wanted to look into them further.
I took physical elements (string, cloth, thread, paper) that I used in the films and remade a one-of-a-kind sketchbook-style book. The patterns and textures replicate the patterns that naturally occur in the brain, as well as nerve cells under the microscope. Keeping the colour palette minimal and simple allows the physicality to shine through, a concept I have drawn out from my film ‘What Does Memory Look Like?’. It was at this stage that I chose the name for my project - as I am showing what memory looks like, this body of work acts as a ‘body’ to showcase memory in various forms. Like the anatomy of the human body shows our bodies working in different ways, this project
